Gallery Stage
Jeff Elbel + Ping: full band performance (and filming)
All ages welcome!

The band will have a big line-up for its Gallery Stage set. Great fun is
guaranteed as Ping debuts lots of new material. The band includes:

John Bretzlaff - lead guitar
Kim Bretzlaff - vocal
Mike Choby - organ
Dave Dampier - percussion
Jeff Elbel - vocal, rhythm guitar
Matt Gadenken - violin
Marc Ludena - bass
Al Oliver - guitar tech
Andrew Oliver - drums

Who knows, maybe a few more people will crowd up there as well! The band will
miss Stacey Krejci, Clint Davidson, and Andrew Carter this year, but welcomes
Mike Choby and Marc Ludena, who are both joining the Ping family for the first
time. Dave Dampier and Matt Gadenken are making their first return engagements,
so they're veterans. You could be next.

The band will haul out an old Farewell to Juliet tune, particularaly for this
show. Jeff says, "I don't remember whether John and I ever played it in FTJ.
Marc thinks we may have played it at True Tunes Upstairs on the Grace and Dire
Circumstances tour in 1997."

An opening set by Jeff Elbel + Ping is still technically tentative, but the
possibility looks good enough to call it "likely." We'll be able to confirm on
Monday, June 25th. Feel free to e-mail ping@marathonrecords.com for final
details. Jeff will provide technical assistance to the promoter and Lost Dogs
for this show.

Filming Ping
----------------------------------------

The set by Jeff Elbel + Ping at Cornerstone Festival's Gallery Stage will be
filmed. There will be three camera operators on hand to capture the band's new
songs. Come on out and be part of the action!

Ping approves of and encourages tape-trading of live shows, so bootleggers
should feel free to bring their own audio and video recording devices. In fact,
Jeff would love to receive a first-generation copy of any recordings made.
These could make their way into a film compiled from the set, and appropriate
credit will be given.

We Have a Winner!
----------------------------------------

Last year, Jeff promised to draw a winner from our mailing list for a box of
various Ping-related items. He also revealed that this would be a "white

tradition.

Chicago Sun-Times article about Cornerstone
----------------------------------------

On Sunday, June 24, 2007, the "Sunday SHOW" section of the Chicago Sun-Times
will run a feature about the Cornerstone Festival, written by Jeff Elbel. If
you don't have access to physical copies of the newspaper,
http://www.xanga.com/marathon will link directly to the article on the
Sun-Times' website beginning Sunday.

Podcast
----------------------------------------

Matt McCabe of Marathon Records artist King Never has completed the first
edition of the Studio Rats podcast. During the inaugural episode, McCabe hosts
a field report by co-host Jeff Elbel from the 2007 Tape Op Convention in Tucson,
AZ. The pair discuss "crazy recording" techniques from Potluck Studio, useful
mastering tricks, and sun-deprived audio engineers hogging the kiddies'
waterslide.

Future podcasts will feature interviews with artists and working engineers,
pulling back the curtain to reveal how some of our favorite new recordings are
being made. The podcast will appeal to tech-nerds, but will also be
sufficiently down-to-earth to entertain music fans of any stripe.
