Sunny Day Roses' sound has both evolved and streamlined. Newer material is focused, guitar driven and immediate. The songs have bigger hooks, in the pop sense. SDR makes its prog influences much less obvious, while retaining the finer points of that style of band interaction. The jazz and funk influences of bLOOMsHINe! are only hinted at now, but the lessons learned while working through those styles allow SDR to put a lot of color and a fresh spin on modern rock. Janet Lund's voice soars over the top of it all, leading a combination that stresses melody, emotion, impact, and heart.

In August of '96, our original (bLOOMsHINe!) singer and dear friend Suki Chaney retired from SDR in order to start a family. She and her husband recently had their first child, Alexander Chaney.
Janet Lund took over the frontwoman helm, and had a tremendous impact on the band. The new material is different, in a very good way.
