On the Beat

Much has already been written about Sunny Day Roses, who appear to me to still be without a major label deal. Incredible, given the buzz on the band at Cornerstone, as well as opening for any number of great young bands from Tooth & Nail and Five Minute Walk.

For what it's worth, I'll throw my two cents in, that this is a band to be heard and toured! Those who haven't heard might remember guitarist Jeff Elbel from his stint with Farewell to Juliet, another great indie band covered in this here column. SDR's lead vocalist is London-reared Suki Chaney, who seems quite facile in both ballad and rocker mode on the band's more than full-length CD bLOOMsHINe! , and the rest of the band bobs and weaves its way through the pop/rock/jazz/funk gumbo that is a pretty neat recipe, indeed.
