Farewell to Juliet

Echoes of Laughter

Mood Swing

(Elbel)

days of mirth, they come and go
in between falls far below
moment's notice, backward glance
the joy's gone from her eyes

behavior shift like changing tide
shades and seraphs either side
spirit soaring past the moon
falls sullen to the floor

roses crack like alabaster
murphy's law become the master

take a ride, swing to and fro
watch emotion ebb and flow
she's come to be someone her friends
can't stand to be around

maybe she's just under stress
an overdose of p.m.s.
perhaps a pill, a little rest
could wipe away the frown

smiles and sadness, love and hate
wave the hand, accept the fate

will she be a wonderful or treacherous thing
the next time she steps off the mood swing

swing him high, swing him low
wind him up and watch him go
pull his string to make him laugh
twice to make him scream

who's to know when good vibration
yields to anger, pure frustration
who's to know what leads him
from the nightmare to a dream

leave behind the sunlit places
feel the cold wind on our faces

cheerful visage fade to sad
peaceful bliss to fighting mad
metamorphosis occurs
daytime falls to night

he strives to keep a level head
but cross his line, he's seeing red
keen to go from bad to worse
loathe from wrong to right

farewell to rejuvenation
embrace decay and degradation

will he rise above what the day has to bring
will he succumb and ride the mood swing

acts of kindness, words of love
reap the benefits thereof
short term memory fails me
i return to bite the hand

sail across the morning sky
toss a coin, i crash or fly
must i carry on this way
i just can't understand

it seems these days that the littlest things
send me off to ride the mood swing

seems to be the insignificant things
send us off to ride the mood swing
