Japanese Bathing Habits

"This is the case. In the Far East, you fill the bathtub with water, and then stand in the middle of the bathroom, take a bucket and pour the water over yourself. Bathrooms in the far east all have drains in their floors. In fact, in one hotel I stayed in in Taiwan, the drain from the bathtub vented out the side onto the bathroom floor.

"A Korean friend of mine says that you have to be very careful when you have relatives over from Korea to explain American bathrooms to them. Otherwise they get into the bathroom and are stupefied by the rugs."
