Frantic Fred's Travel Tips: San Jose

San Jose - Love it and Leave it

I love going to San Jose, I hate going to San Jose.

Overall, the people are friendly, the food is good, the weather is lovely, downtown is pretty. The Convention Center & adjoining and nearby hotels are wonderful - they understand the concept of service. It's not too far from magnificent redwoods, a beautiful coast, scenic mountains. There's neat stuff to do - visit the Science Museum, or just stand out front and watch the kinetic sculpture.

My sinuses are a little less in love with it. For some reason, unlike Florida, the saltwater doesn't seem to clear them out. There's too much other stuff in the air. But all the blooms usually smell great.

Just don't trust the SJPD any farther than you can throw them, at least in regards to parking. I recommend public transportation, friends picking you up, walking, etc. It's a lot cheaper.
